DR MICHAEL 'MIKI' SCHWARTZBORD
Dr Michael ‘Miki’ Schwartzbord has been a full time GP at Kallista Medical Centre since 2016. He graduated from Monash Medical School with Honours in 2002 and completed his GP training at Monbulk Family Clinic in 2009. Dr Miki has further qualifications in Child’s Health, Medical Acupuncture and Mental Health. He is also a Medical Educator supervising our next generation of GPs.
“For me General Practice was a deliberate choice over other specialities. As GPs we choose to specialise in people rather than diseases. I prefer to work together to prevent health problems if possible rather than palliate them, but accept that this is necessary too. I try to work alongside my patients respectfully, appreciating both the simplicity and complexity of life. I seek to address the interacting social, psychological and biological aspects that influence illness and health. I see these as worthy aspirations.”
Dr Miki lives in Kallista with his lovely wife, 4 gorgeous kids, 6 happy hens, and a growing garden! Outside of work he dedicates Fridays to homeschooling his kids and busies himself with numerous DIY projects, cooking, hiking, camping, and building meaningful and enduring friendships.
DR ALICE JANE
Dr Alice Jane has worked at Kallista for over 10 years. Alice enjoys a broad range of medicine. She has a special interest in geriatrics, which means she enjoys caring for the elderly members of our community, as well as patients throughout the broad spectrum of life. Alice is interested in complex medicine and has a particular love of cats, Tasmania, native gardening and wildlife.
Dr JOHN GRUNER
Dr John Gruner joined Jeff Lindenmayer at Selby in 1995, opened the Monbulk Clinic in June 1999 and joined Kallista in 2012. He is married to a local, Kirsti, and they have 4 children. He has completed a Master of Bioethics, to do with the ethics of complementary medicine in 1999 and a PhD in 2021. John is also an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners and enjoys teaching. John works at Kallista when needed and to cover other Doctor's leave, working various other times at Monbulk and Selby. Full records are available by remote computer access to each clinic.
DR GEOFFREY MINTER
2011 saw Geoff retire from general practice after 37 years and we are all grateful he has continued at Kallista as a pyschotherapist. Over many years Geoff has made the transition from being a G.P. to exclusively practising psychotherapy. When Dr Gruner bought the practice the intention was and remains, to maintain the clinic as a quality focused practice and avoid the corporate model. We are all grateful for Geoff's ongoing mentorship!
