ABOUT

Kallista Medical Centre is the oldest and smallest General Practice in "The Hills", located in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges. We view ourselves as a traditional practice supported by our sister clinics, Selby Family Clinic and Monbulk Family Clinic. These clinics are computer linked with some doctors and nurses working across all three clinics.

APPOINTMENTS

  • For appointments please phone 9755 1990 or Book Online (NOTE: Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time.)
  • For safety reasons we are obliged to have a three point identity check.
Emergencies will always be given priority.
If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, or anything you think may be urgent please tell our receptionists so they can transfer your call to the nurse or doctor.

Long Appointments: If you need several matters dealt with or have a complex issue please book a double appointment as our usual 15 minute time may not be enough.

Home Visits: are available by arrangement to regular patients within a 5 km radius of Kalista, whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.

After Hours Advice: Yes we offer after hours advice for regular patients of our clinic by phoning the clinic phone number where an answering machine will give instructions. This service is not bulk billed. At lunch breaks the clinic is often closed and the number to phone is our sister clinic at Monbulk 9752 1455,  a message on the door also advises this.

Recalls:
We have a recall system for abnormal pathology and radiology results. Please ensure we always have your up-to-date contact details.  However, we also believe that patients are ultimately in control of and responsible for their health.  It is safer to re-book to see your doctor again to discuss results.  You may also phone for results after 11.00am Monday to Friday.

Reminders:
We offer an SMS reminder system for Cervical Screenings, Immunisations, Chronic Disease Management Plans and Health Assessments.  Please advise your Doctor if you choose not to be part of our reminder system.

We request that your consultation is paid in full at the time of your visit, by cash, cheque, eftpos or credit card.  Our current charges are displayed at reception. These fees may vary between the doctors as doctors are at liberty to charge their own fees.

Scripts:
  • A fee of $10.00 applies for all scripts when repeat ongoing scripts are given without seeing the doctor, and this money is passed to charity.
  • Alternatively you can have a quick script appointment with a doctor just to pick up your script and this may be bulk billed. Script requests require 24 hours notice and we advise you to ring before collecting the script.
Some medical supplies and vaccinations attract a non claimable fee.  An out of pocket fee applies for some procedures such as removal, skin lesions, IUD, suturing etc. and these costs can be discussed with your Doctor.

We welcome your feedback on all aspects of our service, so feel free to talk to any of our staff or use the Suggestion Box in the waiting room.  Patient satisfaction affects health outcomes and our practice acknowledges that despite our best intentions, complaints may arise.  Our practice deals with complaints in a courteous and understanding manner.
